Email: yolandarivero@faillacelaw.com Ms. Rivero joined the firm in February 2008, and since then has actively participated in all aspects of employment and labor litigation, involving issues under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (“ADEA”), the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) as well as claims under New York State and New York City law. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rivero specialized in matters of real estate and bankruptcy, and also represented clients in a full range of legal issues including divorce, immigration, personal injury, wills and estate matters. In real estate transactions, Ms. Rivero was involved in all aspects of the transaction from contract to closing, and post-closing issues, representing buyers, sellers and banks. She has significant experience managing and supervising real estate transactions during prior tenures at other firms, and took great care in resolving title issues and making sure that her clients were fully informed and prepared for their closings. Ms. Rivero also specialized in all aspects of bankruptcy involving individuals seeking protection under Chapters 7 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. At Michael Faillace & Associates, P.C., Ms. Rivero uses her knowledge of bankruptcy law to defend the firm’s clients’ interests in Bankruptcy Court as creditors. Ms. Rivero received her J.D. from Albany Law School in 1998, and her B.A. in Psychology and Economics from N.Y.U. in 1993. She is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Ms. Rivero is also fluent in Spanish.
